Regional Day – order your tickets today for collection at May branch meeting.

Regional Competitions –hoping your competition pieces are underway, finished or nearly so; please bring to May meeting, suitably packaged and labelled for Helen to transport to Regional Day.

Tracey FranklinWhitework workshop, places still available, must fill today. Workshops are put on at members requests so please use them or lose them. Requirements also available today.

Bead Practical June with Lorna Presly – please see noticeboard for requirements, also available on website.

Knit & Stitch 2011 - Members have requested a trip so we plan a bus to Knit and Stitch 2011 in Harrogate, deposits being taken now. Balance payable later and when prices confirmed.

Members Day July – Please bring work for our annual members exhibition/display.

Every Meeting – we will have a table to display your work, not necessarily EG based; from home, other groups etc, lets show off and let members discover who you are.

Dorothy Theaker Annual Trophy for Hand Stitching – will be awarded to a member in July for a piece of hand stitching which must have been stitched during the last 12 months and ideally from or as a result of a practical session or workshop. Don’t hide your light under a bushel! This could also be one of the Regional Competition pieces.

URGENT CONSIDERATION – Committee, your branch needs you, general committee, but most importantly Branch Chair and Secretary, these posts are vacant from September. You can do it, stand up and be counted! Easier to think about it now? Please make your impression on our future.

Reminder 1 - May we take this opportunity to remind you all please to help with the setting up and putting away of furniture and equipment at meetings. We are grateful to those who regularly help, but it only takes a minute to stack your chair or help lift a table or two.

Reminder 2 – Day sessions 10 - 4, afternoons 2 – 4; previously extended pm sessions did not work as people left earlier. Feel free to arrive early and help set up ! ; committee always here earlier as committee meetings are normally first.

Anne Menary Workshop – in October – Eilleen has requirements lists

Young Embroiderers – Next meeting October 2nd in small hall. New Leader required urgently.

Committee Summer Challenge – Judging today! If you wish to keep your bag please leave a donation to Hospice, all uncollected bags are to be donated to Lindsey Lodge Hospice for further fund raising.

Blue Cushions – remaining cushions to be raffled at agm today.

Tea Rota – we will be asking today for volunteers for first couple of months then selecting names in turn from “register”, it will be up to you to swop if you cannot manage date given.

Regional Competitions – remember we would like a good response for the assorted competitions, particularly the new Maggie Judges Memorial Trophy, floral competition. Chair will demonstrate design sources at October meeting and the results of Dyeing to Colour could well be useful. A follow up session in spring for those who need it.

Sale of Goods - Special estate sale of Maggie’s stitching world. Funds raised will be split and donated to our branch and Maggie’s cancer charities. Perhaps the inspiration packs could be the start of your entry to the Regional Competition – flower beginning with “A”.

Annual Christmas Challenge – as decided last year, our regular memorial to Maggie will be create a Christmas card. Please bring to December meeting, there will be a small prize.

Christmas Practical – Creating a wallhanging/collage from a Christmas Card. Keep your eye out for a suitable card as inspiration - eg 3 Kings; and suitable fabric. We have a lovely box of gold, silver, red and green notions available for you to use.

Tracey Franklin – there will be 2 events with Tracey in 2011, local accommodation required, any volunteers? See Angela Allen asap.

Lowery Day – No specific requirements, but as always, basic sewing kit, notebook, pen and pencil. Queries to Wendy Andrew, Penny Hill and Gwen Dumbleton, who will be leading activities. N.B Packed lunch too!

July Meeting: Apologies from chair who will hopefully be in sunny France!

  • Anne Menary Workshop – in October, book places now, payment in full, see notice board.
  • Young Embroiderers – Next meeting 31st July 10 -12 in small hall.
  • Committee – All members are asked to consider committee for September 2010 – new chair and secretary will be needed in 2011 if not before, so it is good to get new committee members on board and “trained up”. Letters for nominations to follow in summer.
  • Magazine Subs – July Meetng only.
  • Committee Summer Challenge – please collect at the meeting – return to AGM – judging by Josie Storey! No cost, BUT if not returned for AGM fine of £1 to cover cost of challenge!!! Jean and Eilleen are happy for consultation on project.
  • Blue Cushions – Pauline made a super job of these, thank you again. Please take the opportunity to buy back yours at the knockdown price of £5. You could agree to buy someone else’s if they don’t want it. Any remaining will be raffled at AGM.

Young Embroiderers Although Pauline has been the group’s caretaker, we are still urgently needing a group leader, please contact me or Pauline for further info.

Tea Rota -please have your diaries in September as we will need to complete the tea rota.

September - of course means the start of autumn, our agm and our Christmas challenge.

Maggie Judges memorial – we are collecting donations towards a permanent memorial.

Chairs summer challenge – Most squares are now in, still a couple of months but making up starts from Christmas.

Buildings revisited – works old and new still accepted by Jean and Eilleen.

Christmas Competition – This year we would like you to create a Christmas card, required for December 5th meeting.

Christmas Raffle – Margaret Barnby, Elaine Wilkinson, Janet Holah and Janet Spriggs are in charge of this, please bring your suitable donations to Nov and Dec meetings.

N.B.Workshops – Additional workshops must be paid for in full when signing up. As we look to be booking them now, approx 1 per 6month period, please get your name down and pay Hilary.

MILLENNIUM + 10 - is going to be our first exhibition for 10 years (excluding joint one with Barton flower club). This will be held in St Pauls Church at the end of May over a 4 day period. The centrepiece of this will be our new works entitled “Windows”. Please hurry and get started/finished! All committee are eager to give help and advice if required. Other works from projects started at the guild over the last one or two years in our practical sessions will also be asked for. Jean, Eilleen and I are going to keep you appraised and are always available for your queries.

We shall also bee joining in with the floral displays – kneelers under directorship of Jean Threlfall.

Later in the year we will be seeking stewards and cake makers. Margaret, Elaine, Janet and Janet are going to “manage” the tombola – again we will appraise you of this in the New Year. Rest assured, this is our exhibition and the church are our invited guests so to speak and they will follow our lead.

Poppy Appeal – Badges made at Lowery Day and donations accrued we have £30 to send to Royal British Legion.

NB 5th December – stitch club from 10am, bring your own work, especially “windows” and/or anything for completion, assistance etc. Don’t forget your lunch.
